What is the Senior Art Exhibit?

The Senior Art Exhibit serves to highlight the extraordinary work of ÌìÃÀÊÓƵ High School seniors as a capstone experience. The experience of exhibiting your art is an important component of your education.

What can I put in this art exhibit?

The Senior Art Show will be a venue for your creative achievements to be presented in one place. You should show works that have been created at LHS, however, you areÌýmay also show art made outside of school. This is not a venue to show your entire life’s work, but rather 3-6 of your best pieces: artwork that best represents you and that you are most proud of.

LHS Library, 251 Waltham Street, ÌìÃÀÊÓƵ MA

When will this take place?

We will have two days to set up the show,ÌýMay 7thÌýand 8th,Ìýduring or after school.

The Opening will beÌýWednesday, May 9thÌý6:30-8pm.Ìý

Who can I invite to the opening?

Feel free to bring friends and family, it is a celebration!

How do I sign up?

Please fill out the application. And then you will also need to turn in a one-paragraph artist statement toÌýMs. Roy via email. (see below)

What is an Artist Statement?

In one paragraph, describe what inspired you to present the work that will be on display in the show.

Reach out to one of your art teachers or Ms. Roy for additional information.Ìý

  1. Visit the Fine & Performing Arts Office room 202 for an informational packet and to sign up forÌýa Senior Show Planning IBlock with Ms. Roy.ÌýThe senior show planning IBlocks are scheduled for Wednesday, April 4th, Thursday, April 5th, and Tuesday, April 10th. If you cannot attend please make an appointment with Ms. Roy. You may also fill out the ´Ú´Ç°ù³¾Ìý³ó±ð°ù±ð:ÌýÌý
  2. Write an artist statement!ÌýWrite an artist statement that is about one paragraph long that will be displayed with your work. ÌýIn this statement, you may want to include: how you became interested in art, what media/materials you like to use, how you get ideas for your art, what you hope to convey to your audience through your art, etc. Please TYPE and pass this in or email it toÌýMs. RoyÌýby Friday, April 13. aroy@lexingtonma.orgIf you have any questions about writing an artist statement reach out to your art teacher for guidance.
  3. Gather your work!ÌýDepending on how many students are displaying work, you will be able to display around 3-6 of your best pieces of artwork. ÌýThese can be made at any time or place—you decide on which pieces best represent your work.
  4. Pick a set-up date.ÌýSet-up will be happening May 7thÌý& 8thÌýduring school or after school. ÌýCheck in with your art teacher about when you will set up work, and we will ensure that your space has been labeled. Have fun with your space, and make it your own!
  5. Make a Comment Book.ÌýEither during an info meeting or on your own, create a small book that will be displayed with your work for people to give you feedback.
  6. Get ready to party!ÌýThe show opening is Wednesday,ÌýMay 9thÌýfrom 6:30-8pm. Bring family & friends to help you celebrate your artwork!
  7. Pick a takedown date.ÌýTake work down May 14th or 15th, again during school hours or after school.
