All 3rd Quarter Attendance Appeals forms are due by Monday, April 8 by 3:30 PM to your Dean鈥檚 Office.聽

Forms will be available in your Dean’s Office beginning March 27聽 and can also be or from the “Announcements” on the LHS website. These appeals are for students who have an 鈥淣鈥� (5 or more absences) in a class and the absences are a combination of excused and unexcused absences or all unexcused absences.聽 You may NOT appeal your first 鈥淣鈥� in a yearlong course unless you are a senior and this quarter鈥檚 grades are part of your application process to colleges, which you should address in your statement on the appeals form and provide documentation of the grades request, as it is not typical for 3rd Quarter grades to be sent to colleges.聽聽

If you have a 鈥淣鈥� and all absences are excused, you do not need to do anything further, as it will be waived.聽 If further documentation is needed, your Dean will reach out to you.聽 You do not need to appeal study halls or iblock.聽聽

Student attendance verification sheets were previously posted in Aspen on March 4 and an updated report will be published on Friday, April 5. Please make sure you are looking at a current attendance summary.聽 It can also be run at anytime on Aspen using the following directions:

• Select the My Info top tab, then select the attendance side tab
• Go to Reports
• Select Attendance Summary (Portal) (LHS Only). Select the grade term by clicking on the magnifying glass next to Term
• Click Run

Deans will be reviewing appeals and may reach out to students via lexingtonma.org accounts to make an appointment to discuss during the week of April 8.聽聽

All Appeals decisions will be emailed to students by Thursday, April 11.聽 If you have any questions about your attendance or the appeals process, please see your Dean.

We hope that this letter finds you doing well, albeit some very cold weather.聽 We鈥檙e reaching out to provide some additional information about our new mass communication system, ParentSquare.聽聽

Overall, the implementation has gone well, and as can be expected with anything new, we have found that a number of questions have come up from users. Based on your feedback and questions, we鈥檝e created a resource, which we will also post to our school and district website. We hope that this is useful as you begin to receive more communications from the district and schools through ParentSquare.

ParentSquare is intended to be a 鈥渙ne stop鈥� communication hub, where the district, schools, and even eventually teachers, can communicate with families. The platform has an app, which is not required, however, with the frequency of cell phone users, we鈥檝e received feedback over the years that an app would be helpful.聽 If you have multiple children, the app will provide 鈥渇eeds鈥� for each school.聽 You will still get communications if you don鈥檛 have the app, so no worries if you have not downloaded it.

Additionally, in order to participate in two way communications (this feature is not active yet), you would need to accept an invitation from ParentSquare.聽 We have a number of families that may not have accepted the invitation yet, or may have just joined.聽 Again, if you do not wish to take advantage of two way communications, you do not need to accept the invitation.
